Cats love to play in bags. Your cat probably looks forward to grocery shopping day much more than you do! Keep in mind though that the handles on bags, whether paper or plastic, can easily get caught around your cat’s neck. Beside the very serious risk of strangulation, your cat could panic when he can’t release the handle from around his neck. As he runs through the house he could easily get caught up on something.
Before you offer the paper bag to your cat, be sure you snip the handles. As for plastic bags, even without the handles they pose a suffocation risk so keep those safely stored in a drawer or cabinet, out of your cat’s reach.
